Read to the end before starting

Later steps may require chilling, a preheated oven or an ingredient already cooked. Reading everything helps organise time and tools. Do not heat oil and then stop to chop everything else. Prepare what you can first.

Notice the ingredient's condition

A cup of dry chickpeas differs from a cup of cooked chickpeas, and dry pasta from boiled pasta. A recipe using cooked fava beans excludes cooking dry beans. Words such as drained, chopped, grated and ready-to-eat affect water amounts, timing and results.

Connect time with a visible result

Five minutes is guidance, while until the onion softens describes the goal. Heat, cookware and piece size affect time. Use both the clock and doneness signs. Thicken sauce before eggs if instructed, rather than relying only on minutes.

Adjust servings carefully

The servings tool scales ingredients directly; it cannot increase pan space or oven power. Cook large amounts in batches and monitor water and consistency. Fractions such as half an egg need a practical choice: choose suitable servings or beat and measure the egg, handling it safely.

Record one change

If reducing lemon or increasing soup water, write it down. Many changes make it harder to identify the effect. Follow the basic structure first, then adjust taste. These editorial recipes are not called tested without documented practical testing.

Read the beginning and end together

Check the final step before the first: does the dish need chilling, resting or syrup ready? Total time is more than time on the heat. Check ingredient size and type, such as rolled oats or cooked beans.

Measure for your selected servings

Set servings before measuring or adding ingredients to shopping. Calculated fractions may need a scale or measuring spoons. Cooking time does not automatically double; you may need batches.

Follow steps without losing your place

Cooking mode enlarges the steps and lets you mark completed ones. Marks are saved in this browser. They are not a timer or proof food is cooked. Reset them when cooking again and check doneness yourself.
